Play the classic offline 29 card game anytime, anywhere!
The 29 Card Game, sometimes known as the 28 Card Game due to minor rule variations, is a beloved South Asian trick-taking game where the Jack and Nine reign supreme in every suit.
Typically, 29 is enjoyed by four players in fixed partnerships, with partners sitting opposite each other.
The game uses 32 cards from a standard 52-card deck, consisting of eight cards per suit: hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. The card hierarchy in each suit is ranked from high to low as follows: J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7. The objective is to capture tricks that include high-value cards.
The points allocated to the cards are:
This results in a total of 28 points from the cards alone. In certain versions, the last trick adds an additional point, bringing the total to 29, which is why the game is named so. However, many modern players do not count the last trick's point, yet the game retains its name as 29, even when played with only 28 points.
Traditionally, the Twos, Threes, Fours, and Fives, which are removed from the 52-card deck, serve as trump indicators. Each player receives a set of these cards, one from each suit. Meanwhile, the Sixes are utilized for keeping score, with each partnership using one red and one black Six.
