Digital Revolution: Showcasing Devarattam

This application, developed as part of my "Digital Revolution of Devarattam" project, is dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of Devarattam.

The project acknowledges the contributions of Kalaimamani Mr. M. Kumararaman (retired teacher), Kalaimamani Mr. M. Kannan Kumar, and Kalaimamani Mr. K. Nelli Mani Kandam from Zamin Kodangipatti, recipients of the KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMANI, and Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar awards, respectively. My gratitude also extends to my Guru, Mr. E. Rajakamulu, and the esteemed artists of Devarattam.

This app aims to highlight Devarattam and its accomplished performers. It provides detailed information about this traditional Tamil Nadu folk dance, its history, and its practitioners.

Devarattam, a dance form performed by Rajakambalathu Nayakkar, both historically and in the present day, involves 32 to 72 steps, with 32 forming the core sequence. Additional steps are variations of the basic steps.

Performers execute the dance using kerchiefs in each hand, adorned with Salangai anklets, while simultaneously playing the Deva Thunthumi musical instrument.
