Mackenyu will provide both English and Japanese voice acting for Gennojo, a key figure in Assassin's Creed Shadows' feudal Japan setting. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a complex character: a charming rogue with a hidden sense of justice, motivated by guilt to reform a corrupt system. He's described as a charismatic trickster, balancing wit, deception, and confidence. His dedication to dismantling corruption leads him to risk everything for his cause, particularly when it involves protecting the vulnerable.

While the exact timing of Gennojo's appearance in the game remains undisclosed, his significance to the storyline is confirmed. Mackenyu himself revealed that Gennojo is a member of the "Shinobi League" and can essentially be recruited as a companion, aiding the player throughout their adventure.
