Paradox Interactive has revealed initial information about the next Crusader Kings 3 expansion, which centers on nomadic rulers. This DLC will add a distinct government system for nomadic cultures, plus a new resource called "herd" that determines a leader's influence. This resource will also affect multiple gameplay areas, such as military power, cavalry makeup, vassal loyalty, and other core mechanics.
Of course, nomadic chieftains rely on regular migration to sustain their way of life. Their decisions to move will be shaped by various conditions: they might reach agreements with local inhabitants or drive them from the territory.
Additionally, rulers will have special, portable yurts at their disposal, much like adventurers' camps. These yurts can be improved with new modules that offer different advantages.
The expansion will also include notable yurt settlements, which nomadic monarchs transport with them, similar to how adventurers operate. As with adventurer camps, these mobile towns can be enhanced with extra buildings that serve various purposes.
