With the release of Elden Ring Nightreign drawing near, players are eager to dive into this multiplayer Souls RPG. FromSoftware released an overview trailer for Nightreign on May 2, which explored the game’s story, features, mechanics, and more.
According to the trailer, "ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN is a co-op survival action game where you explore a vast and hazardous field alongside other players. You take on the role of a Nightfarer, battling through an endless night and confronting hordes of deadly foes over a three-day period."

The trailer outlined what fans can anticipate from the game and detailed how each playthrough unfolds. Players are deployed in the realm of Limveld to hunt the Nightlords who dominate the land. Their mission is to defeat these rulers by overcoming enemies, seeking valuable treasures, and progressing through challenges.
A typical gameplay cycle includes gathering resources by day and confronting powerful bosses at night. As each day passes, the map shrinks and new enemies appear. By the third day, players must overcome a formidable Nightlord to conclude their expedition.
The trailer also noted that "the layout of Limveld changes with each visit." This means that base locations, enemy types, chest rewards, and other elements are reshuffled and randomized every run. Expeditions can also be disrupted by sudden enemy ambushes or unexpected events like meteor impacts or volcanic eruptions.

The overview trailer offered a first look at the final two classes in Nightreign, which have not yet been formally introduced. While navigating the character selection screen, viewers noticed a new character named Executor.
As shown in the trailer, Executor appears to be a sword-wielding knight capable of infusing his weapon with energy. A brief clip displayed him parrying and countering an enemy attack. Later in the Nightfarer segment, another character was teased: a female with grayish hair who carries a harp-like instrument.
Fans can look forward to dedicated character trailers for these Nightfarers in the weeks ahead as Nightreign nears its official launch.

In Nightreign, players have access to a base known as the Roundtable Hold, where they can prepare before heading into Limveld. This hidden sanctuary allows adventurers to equip relics, buy supplies, and tailor their character's appearance.
Relics are collectible items obtained during expeditions that boost the player's capabilities. Since different relic combinations support diverse playstyles, players are encouraged to experiment and find the setup that works best for them. Relics can be purchased from a Jar Merchant hidden in a secluded area of the base. To acquire them, players spend "Murk," a currency earned as rewards from combat.

Additionally, a "fitting mirror" allows players to modify their character's outfits. These costumes are purely visual and do not influence gameplay. The trailer displayed several in-game outfits, including previews of beloved Souls series costumes such as Solaire of Astora, Faraam, God of War, and Ringfinger Leonhard from Dark Souls 3.
Players may also collect "fragments of lost memories" during their expeditions, which provide deeper insight into each Nightfarer's backstory. These memories can introduce new objectives to complete during a run. Successfully achieving them reveals the origins and motivations of each character.

Thankfully, Nightreign's PC requirements are far less punishing than its enemies and bosses. In an April 28 post on X (formerly Twitter), FromSoftware shared the game's minimum and recommended settings, which are within reach for most gaming systems.
The gap between minimum and recommended specs is relatively small. The minimum calls for an Intel Core i5-10600 or Ryzen 5 5500, while the recommended is an Intel Core i5-115000 or Ryzen 5600. Memory requirements are also close: 12 GB for minimum and 16 GB for recommended.
A similar trend applies to the graphics card requirements: a GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 at minimum, and a GTX 1070 or Radeon RX Vega 56 for optimal performance. Fans have praised FromSoftware's optimization efforts, especially the modest 30 GB storage space needed.

With less than a month until release, FromSoftware's recent updates have fueled excitement for this upcoming co-op survival experience. The overview trailer gave fans even more reasons to look forward to the game's launch.
Elden Ring Nightreign is scheduled to launch on May 30, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest news and updates about the game, be sure to read our article linked below!
