FBI Shuts Down Major Nintendo Switch Piracy Site

by Lucas Oct 17,2025

The FBI has shut down a prominent website hosting pirated Nintendo Switch games.

Formerly notorious for distributing illegal game copies, NSW2U.com now displays only an FBI seizure notice confirming the domain's takeover.

This crackdown represents the latest in Nintendo's ongoing anti-piracy campaign, coming shortly after the company disabled ("bricked") new Switch 2 consoles using unauthorized flash cartridges.

The seizure notice states: "This domain has been seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation pursuant to a warrant issued under 18 U.S.C. 2323 by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, in coordination with the FBI and Netherlands' Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD)."

The involvement of FIOD, a Dutch financial crimes unit, indicates potential Netherlands-based operations behind the site.

European countries had previously blocked NSW2U.com following its May addition to an EU blacklist. The latest action appears to have permanently terminated the platform.

IGN has reached out to Nintendo for details regarding the shutdown and potential legal actions against the site's operators.

Nintendo maintains an aggressive stance against piracy, pursuing substantial fines and criminal charges. However, its recent console-disabling measures have sparked debate - particularly regarding impacts on secondary market consumers and regulatory challenges, including ongoing litigation in Brazil.
