Forza Horizon 4 Farewell: Farewell Announcement on December 15th

Forza Horizon 4's digital sunset is approaching. Microsoft has announced the game will be removed from major digital stores, including the Microsoft Store, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass, on December 15, 2024. This means no new purchases of the game or its downloadable content (DLC) will be possible after this date. The popular open-world racing title, set in a fictionalized Great Britain, has entertained over 24 million players since its 2018 release.

While Playground Games previously stated they had no plans to delist the game, expiring licenses for in-game assets necessitate its removal. DLC sales will cease even earlier, on June 25th, leaving only the standard, deluxe, and ultimate editions available for purchase until the December deadline. The final in-game series, Series 77, will run from July 25th to August 22nd. Post-Series 77, the playlist screen will be unavailable, but daily and weekly challenges and Forzathon Live events will still be accessible via the Forza Events screen.

Existing owners, both digital and physical, can continue playing Forza Horizon 4 without interruption. Game Pass subscribers with active, fully paid subscriptions who own DLC will receive a game token to maintain access. This delisting, while unfortunate, is a common occurrence in racing games due to the time-limited nature of licensing agreements for cars and music, as seen previously with Forza Horizon 3. Fortunately, players can currently snag the game at an 80% discount on Steam, with an Xbox Store sale planned for August 14th.
