Game of Thrones: War for Westeros is a brand-new real-time strategy game unveiled at tonight's Summer Game Fest showcase.
Scheduled for a 2026 PC launch on Steam, the cinematic trailer featured one of the epic conflicts from the Game of Thrones series, highlighting how you can influence the outcome to diverge from the events in the TV show or books.
Narrated by the composed voice of Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance), the preview shows the Night King claiming Jon Snow (modeled after Kit Harington) for his own. Given Jon's history, this might not be a problem—he's already come back from death at least once.
In War for Westeros, you take command of four major factions—House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or the Night King—forging alliances or betraying foes and allies alike as you battle with iconic heroes and armies.
Spanning Westeros from the northern Wall to King's Landing, the game supports both single-player campaigns and real-time multiplayer battles.
"This time, you're not just watching the Game of Thrones—you're playing it," explained game director Ryan McMahon. "War for Westeros gives you command of the realm: whether you lead the Starks, Targaryens, or Lannisters, or take charge of the Night King and his undead army, you'll hold true power and reshape the fate of the Seven Kingdoms."
