GBA Racing Classic F-Zero Climax Zooms onto Switch Online

Nintendo's Switch Online + Expansion Pack welcomes two exhilarating additions to its GBA racing lineup: F-Zero Climax and F-Zero: GP Legend! Arriving October 11th, 2024, these classic titles offer a blast from the past for racing enthusiasts.

This exciting announcement brings the futuristic, high-octane thrills of the F-Zero franchise to a new generation. Originally launched over 30 years ago, F-Zero has consistently pushed the boundaries of console technology, earning its reputation as a speed-demon among retro racing games. Its influence can be seen in other racing franchises, notably SEGA's Daytona USA.

The gameplay retains the series' signature blend of breakneck speed, challenging tracks, and intense competition. Players pilot powerful "F-Zero machines," vying for the finish line while navigating obstacles and battling opponents. Captain Falcon, the iconic protagonist, even makes an appearance in Super Smash Bros.!

F-Zero: GP Legend, initially released in Japan in 2003 and later internationally in 2004, joins the Japan-exclusive F-Zero Climax, which has finally made its way to a global audience after nearly two decades. This marks the return of F-Zero to prominence, following the release of the Switch's F-Zero 99 last year. According to F-Zero designer Takaya Imamura, the success of Mario Kart played a significant role in the series' extended hiatus.
