Pointer Sisters' Streams Surge After GTA 6 Trailer 2

by David Oct 27,2025

The Pointer Sisters' hit "Hot Together" has experienced a massive surge in Spotify streams after featuring in the new Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer, which debuted just yesterday.

Global Spotify streams for the 1986 track skyrocketed by an incredible 182,000% within just two hours of the trailer's premiere. Spotify's numbers appear unchanged since yesterday, with "Hot Together" still showing just over 250,000 streams, though this figure is expected to rise significantly soon.

"Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else," said Sulinna Ong, Spotify's Global Head of Editorial, in a statement. "Music has been synonymous with the series from the very beginning, so it's fantastic to see both new and longtime fans connecting with such an iconic song in this way."

It's now been 24 hours since Rockstar Games unveiled its latest look at GTA 6, with the trailer already amassing an impressive 77.7 million views on YouTube at the time of writing. While the sudden success of "Hot Together" is remarkable, it comes as no surprise. When Rockstar released its first trailer in late 2023, the featured song, Tom Petty's "Love Is A Long Road," saw a similarly huge spike in Spotify streams. That track's popularity sparked so much interest among gamers that many began speculating about its possible connection to GTA 6's storyline, though no such theories have emerged yet for "Hot Together."

Rockstar is giving eager fans plenty of great music to enjoy while they wait for the (recently delayed) GTA 6 release date of May 26, 2026. In the meantime, you can explore some of the best fan theories about Trailer 2 we've seen so far, as well as our rundown of 89 details Rockstar carefully included in the video.
