Slaying monsters in *Monster Hunter Wilds* is exhilarating, but to truly master the game, you'll need to learn how to trap them for gathering every monster part essential for armor forging. To do this, you'll need Trap Tools. Here's a detailed guide on how to acquire and use them effectively.
While *Monster Hunter Wilds* may not explicitly guide you through trapping monsters or acquiring Trap Tools, if you're familiar with the series, this process will seem intuitive.

The primary method to obtain Trap Tools is by purchasing them from the Provisions Stockpiler NPC at your Base Camp. Engage with him, browse through his inventory, and locate the Trap Tools, available at 200 Zenny each. It's advisable to stock up on these if you're planning on farming specific monsters or aiming to capture every type of monster in the game.
Remember, Trap Tools are exclusively available for purchase at Base Camp and cannot be found in the wild like other resources.
Once you have your Trap Tools, it's time to employ them strategically. You can combine a Trap Tool with a Net (crafted from Spiderweb or Ivy) to create a Pitfall Trap, or pair it with a Thunderbug Capacitor to form a Shock Trap.
Both types of traps are effective, but be mindful that certain monsters have resistances. For example, Shock Traps won't affect Rey Dau, a lightning dragon, as it's immune to electrical attacks. In such cases, opt for the Pitfall Trap instead.
Also, note that you can only carry one Trap item at a time, so use it wisely when the monster is weakened.
That's the comprehensive guide on acquiring and using Trap Tools in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and detailed information on the game, be sure to visit The Escapist.
