Joker Studio Launches Mobile RPG Sea of Remnants

NetEase Games has unveiled a new RPG titled Sea of Remnants, scheduled for release on PS5, PC, and mobile devices in 2026. Developed by Joker Studio, the creators of Identity V, and published by NetEase, the game invites players into a captivating world of memory and adventure.

What’s the Story?

You start your journey as a puppetfolk sailor, where you can recruit over 300 companions and train them for intense battles. The experience blends exploration, modular ship customization, and deep turn-based combat within a vast open world designed primarily for solo play.

The narrative delves into themes of memory and loss. Sailors who fall into the Sea of Remnants forfeit their most treasured skills, yet they continue to return. The sea itself is composed of memories—both your own and those of forgotten captains.

Orbtopia serves as the central pirate city where you can dock your ships. This lively hub is rich with pirate atmosphere, from the scent of frying oil in the air to roosters and cats darting through the alleys. Your decisions also shape the evolution of Orbtopia.

Real-time weather conditions dynamically influence your voyage. Sunny skies can turn treacherous without warning, whirlpools reshape the map, and colossal leviathans emerge from the clouds. Surviving diverse environments—from volcanic islands to haunted ruins—is key to your progress.

The developers have released several trailers for Sea of Remnants Mobile. Watch them below!

Sea of Remnants Will Be Free to Play on Mobile

Sea of Remnants is officially a free-to-play title, with no explicit mention of gacha mechanics. However, given its extensive roster, modular systems, and live service model, it’s possible that loot-based features may be introduced in the future.

Initial impressions suggest the developers have successfully captured player interest. The art direction stands out, combining stylized animation, comic book aesthetics, graffiti elements, and glitch-inspired surrealism. Additional visuals are available on the official website.
