Lenovo Legion Go with SteamOS Now Available

Lenovo has launched the latest and most advanced version of the Legion Go S. It arrives with SteamOS preloaded and is driven by the impressive AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme chipset, backed by a generous 32GB of RAM and a 1TB solid-state drive. This level of performance commands a premium – priced at $829.99 exclusively through Best Buy – but it firmly establishes itself as a top-tier handheld gaming PC. In essence, unless you specifically require Windows 11 or the Steam Deck's trackpads for your favorite titles, this is the handheld gaming PC to buy today. As noted in our 9/10 review of the Legion Go S (Z1 Extreme, SteamOS):

With multiple Legion Go S variants available, it's crucial to select the correct model. Earlier this year, Lenovo introduced a version running Windows 11 with the less powerful Z2 Go chip. This was followed by a SteamOS model that also used the Z2 Go chip. The newest iteration, featuring SteamOS and the Z1 Extreme chip, significantly outperforms the Steam Deck in specifications – enabling it to run newer games like Doom: The Dark Ages, which are beyond the Steam Deck's capabilities.

If you prefer to wait before buying, that's a reasonable choice. We are currently in a golden age for handheld gaming PCs. Microsoft and ASUS intend to release the Xbox ROG Ally and the Z2 Extreme-equipped Xbox ROG Ally X later this year, both featuring a new version of Windows 11 optimized for handheld gaming.
