Insomniac Games Remains Tight-Lipped on Marvel's Wolverine Release Date

Insomniac Games recently shared its future plans, but notably omitted any updates on the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. While the studio acknowledged its ambitious roadmap and new projects, Co-Head Chad Dezern confirmed they are prioritizing existing titles and aren't ready to disclose information on upcoming releases, including a potential 2025 launch for Wolverine. The company stated that while excitement is building, they need to maintain secrecy for now.

Wolverine's Development History and Shared Universe

Initially unveiled at the 2021 PlayStation Showcase with a cinematic trailer, Marvel's Wolverine is slated for PlayStation 5. In a 2023 interview, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed Wolverine's existence within the same universe as Spider-Man, stating both games share the same universe designation ("1048"). While fans anticipated crossovers, the only confirmed connection so far is a Wolverine-themed suit ("The Best There Is") in Spider-Man 2 for Miles Morales. A notable incident in December 2023 saw a ransomware attack briefly exposing Wolverine's development assets and gameplay footage.

Insomniac's Current Projects and Future Plans

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is launching on PC on January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac clarified that no further DLC is planned for the game, though the PC version will include all post-launch updates, including new suits and New Game+. Two editions will be available: Standard and Digital Deluxe. Currently, Marvel's Wolverine is Insomniac's only confirmed project in active development.
