Monster Hunter Wilds' player base has sharply declined and is gradually approaching MH World's numbers. Continue reading for insights into MH Wilds' player count drop and the game's inaugural collaboration event.

Monster Hunter Wilds emerged as one of this year's most anticipated releases, setting a record as Capcom's fastest-selling game. However, player engagement has noticeably cooled since its explosive launch, with concurrent player numbers dropping substantially three months post-release.
As highlighted by Monster Hunter content creator Zenny, MH Wilds' concurrent player count has halved since May, bringing it closer to the veteran title MH World. SteamDB data reveals MH Wilds' 24-hour peak at 41,101 players, edging nearer to MH World's 26,479 concurrent players at the time of reporting.
For context, MH World maintained over 100,000 concurrent players during its third month on Steam, outperforming MH Wilds' current 40,000. Many players attribute this decline to MH Wilds' limited endgame content, despite the release of Title Update 1. The upcoming Summer Title Update, featuring new monsters and events, could potentially revitalize the player community.
Another potential driver for player retention is the teased collaboration with Capcom's legendary fighting franchise, Street Fighter. On May 19, the official Monster Hunter social media account shared an image featuring a paw print styled after Street Fighter 6's urban visual theme.
While details remain unconfirmed, this crossover follows established precedent from MH World's previous collaboration. That event introduced Ryu and Sakura armor sets, premium Hadoken and Shoryuken gestures, a Chun-Li costume for the Handler, and other themed content.

This collaboration would represent MH Wilds' first major crossover, generating excitement about Capcom's approach to the event. The Monster Hunter series has a rich history of crossovers, including partnerships with Devil May Cry and Sonic in MH4, Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem in MH Generations Ultimate, plus Assassin's Creed and Megaman in MH World.
Despite current player count trends, the community anticipates renewed engagement as MH Wilds rolls out additional content through the remainder of the year and beyond. Monster Hunter Wilds is accessible on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms. For continuous updates on Monster Hunter Wilds developments, explore our related coverage below!
