NetherRealm Studios Unveils Mortal Kombat 1's T-1000 Gameplay and Madam Bo Kameo Fighter

Get ready for some liquid metal mayhem! NetherRealm has dropped the first gameplay footage of the T-1000, the final DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1's Khaos Reigns expansion. The gameplay showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of Terminator 2, including his signature blade and morphing abilities. His moveset draws parallels to characters like Baraka and Kabal, with a particularly impressive uppercut reminiscent of Glacius from Killer Instinct. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, reprises his role, lending his voice to the character in a thrilling showdown with Johnny Cage. The trailer culminates in a brutal Fatality, a reimagining of the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene.

Adding to the excitement, NetherRealm surprised fans with the announcement of Madam Bo as a DLC Kameo fighter, launching alongside the T-1000. This popular character from the base game's story mode will provide valuable support in combat. Brief glimpses of Madam Bo's gameplay are featured in the trailer.

The T-1000 will be available via early access for Khaos Reigns owners on March 18th, with general release on March 25th. Madam Bo arrives on March 18th as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or as a separate purchase.

The addition of the T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC, sparking speculation about future content. While NetherRealm remains tight-lipped about a potential Kombat Pack 3, Warner Bros. Discovery's continued investment in the Mortal Kombat franchise suggests further development is likely. Ed Boon previously stated that NetherRealm had already chosen its next project three years prior, but committed to long-term support for Mortal Kombat 1. Although the studio's next game remains unannounced, many anticipate a return to the Injustice series. Boon himself confirmed that the Injustice franchise is not closed off. Past development decisions, influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4, led to the release of Mortal Kombat 1 before another Injustice title.
