Naked Rain and NetEase's upcoming open-world RPG, formerly known as Project Mugen, has been officially rebranded as Ananta. Initially unveiled at Gamescom 2023, the game recently released a new trailer after a prolonged silence, promising further details on December 5th. The trailer itself can be viewed here:

The reason for the name change remains undisclosed by the developers. However, Ananta, meaning "infinite" in Sanskrit, aligns semantically with Mugen, which also translates to "infinite." This is further reinforced by the game's Chinese title.
While the name change has sparked mixed reactions within the gaming community, the continued development of the project is a welcome relief. Comparisons are already being drawn between Ananta and Hotta Studio's upcoming RPG, Neverness to Everness. Although Ananta's trailer is visually striking, the lack of gameplay footage currently favors Neverness to Everness for many players. Personally, I find Ananta's visuals more captivating.
A surprising development is the deletion of the original Project Mugen social media accounts, including a YouTube channel boasting over 100,000 subscribers and millions of views. Only the Discord server remains, simply renamed to reflect the title change. This abrupt shift to new accounts has left players puzzled, particularly given the simplicity of renaming existing platforms.
Ananta casts players as Infinite Triggers, supernatural investigators combating paranormal threats. The game features a cast of characters including Taffy, Bansy, Alan, Mechanika, and Dila.
