For the first time in 24 years, Nexus Mods - the largest PC gaming modding platform - transitions to new ownership as founder Robin "Dark0ne" Scott passes the torch, prioritizing his mental wellbeing.
The face of one of gaming's most influential websites announced this major shift in an emotional statement today. Scott confirms he's already formally departed from daily operations after "months of deliberation, personal meetings, and profound self-reflection."
While maintaining confidentiality about transition details, the announcement introduces two new leaders: Victor (known as Foledinho) and Marinus (alias Rapsak), both now branded as "Site Owner" on their profiles. This leadership evolution marks Nexus Mods' next chapter while granting Scott a well-deserved reprieve.
"The colossal responsibility of maintaining what I built gradually became overwhelming," Scott confesses. "Constant pressure triggered chronic anxiety and stress-related health problems. Recognizing my burnout was affecting both staff and the platform, I concluded that fresh leadership would best serve Nexus Mods' future."
What began as a modest Morrowind modding project in Scott's bedroom transformed into a gaming titan. Nexus Mods' official page reports serving 63.4 million users with 16.8 billion downloads - ranking among Britain's most visited websites.
"Behind the scenes, I've been progressively reducing my involvement," Scott clarifies. "The team has successfully shouldered increasing responsibility, maintaining peak performance. This formal transition simply cements our preparation for the next era."
Scott assures the community that structural adjustments aim to ensure sustainability without disrupting current operations, emphasizing: "Our community-first philosophy and mod-author focus remain non-negotiable core values."
While relinquishing executive duties, Scott will maintain community engagement through Discord and forums, providing transitional guidance to the 40-person team.
"This isn't some corporate exit strategy," Scott stresses. "It's overdue self-care - reclaiming mental space and releasing perfectionist tendencies that told me I had to personally manage everything."
For decades, Nexus Mods has hosted thousands of player creations for franchises like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Cyberpunk 2077. The platform's resilience was demonstrated when Oblivion mods appeared within hours of its surprise release earlier this year. As this gaming institution undergoes its first leadership change, questions about its future direction naturally arise.Girls Frontline 2: Exilium Global Website Goes Live, Along With Its Socials!
