Pokemon Sleep Starts Transition to Pokemon Works as Main Developer

Pokemon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works

The Pokémon Company's newly established subsidiary, Pokémon Works, is taking over the development and maintenance of Pokémon Sleep from Select Button. This transition was announced via an in-app notification within the Japanese version of the game.

The shift marks a change in management, with Pokémon Works now responsible for future updates and development. While the announcement appeared in the Japanese app, its global impact remains unclear, as it hasn't yet surfaced in the international app's news section.

Pokémon Works, formed earlier this year, is a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Interestingly, they share a location in Tokyo with ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a contributor to Pokémon HOME. Representative Director Takuya Iwasaki stated the company aims to "create an experience that makes Pokémon more real," though how this will manifest in Pokémon Sleep remains to be seen.

This transition signifies a strategic move by The Pokémon Company, consolidating Pokémon Sleep's development under a subsidiary with a clear connection to the broader Pokémon franchise. The future direction of Pokémon Sleep under Pokémon Works' leadership is anticipated with interest.
