Ubisoft's Live-Action "Driver" Series Cancelled, But Other Projects Remain in Development
Despite the cancellation of the live-action "Driver" television series, Ubisoft assures fans that other projects related to the popular racing franchise are actively underway. The planned series, initially slated for exclusive streaming on Binge.com, has been scrapped due to the closure of Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary of Ubisoft. This partnership dissolution was confirmed by a Ubisoft spokesperson to Game File.
While the live-action adaptation is no longer in production, Ubisoft remains committed to the "Driver" franchise. The company has explicitly stated that it is "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise" and promises future announcements. While details remain scarce, fans can anticipate further updates on these upcoming "Driver" endeavors.
The cancellation of the Binge.com series, originally announced in 2021 as part of Ubisoft's initiative to expand its game universes into new media, marks a setback. However, Ubisoft's continued investment in the "Driver" IP suggests that fans can look forward to future iterations of the franchise in other formats.
