Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams, each with players sitting opposite each other around a table. A standard 52-card deck is used, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. The goal for each player is to accurately estimate the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team will win in each round.
The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" throws a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then throw down papers of the same type. The player who throws the matching paper first wins the "Bamh." Tarneeb papers are the most powerful; a Tarneeb paper wins unless a stronger Tarneeb paper is played. The round ends when all players have played.
Points are tallied at the end of each round. A team only scores points if they successfully meet or exceed their bid for the number of Allmat. If successful, they add the number of Allmat won to their score; the opposing team gets nothing. If unsuccessful, the number of Allmat they bid is subtracted from their score, and the number of Allmat won by the opposing team is added to their score.
If a team wins 13 Allmat without bidding for 13, they receive 16 points. If they bid and achieve 13 Allmat, they receive 26 points. However, if a team bids for 13 Allmat and fails to win them, they lose 16 points.
The game concludes when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points, declaring that team the winner.
