Journey back in time with Marvel Snap's Prehistoric Avengers season! The season's crown jewel, and arguably its most powerful card, is Agamotto, an ancient sorcerer with deep ties to Doctor Strange. Let's dive into the best Agamotto decks currently shaking up the Marvel Snap meta.
Agamotto is a 5-cost, 10-power card with a game-changing ability: "Game Start: Shuffle 4 Ancient Arcana into your deck." These Arcana are:
Notice the "Banish" keyword. These Arcana are Skill cards, not character cards, lacking power values. They're played, their effects trigger, and then they vanish—unable to be retrieved. This means they combo with Wong but not Odin; King Etri won't pull Agamotto, and Ravonna Renslayer or Mister Negative won't affect their cost.
The diverse effects of the Arcana make Agamotto difficult to pigeonhole into a single archetype. He adds complexity, potentially disrupting established strategies.
While Agamotto's ultimate archetype might still be evolving, he currently shines in two deck types: Wiccan Control and Push Scream.
Wiccan Control:
Quicksilver, Hydra Bob, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Cassandra Nova, Rocket & Groot, Copycat, Galactus, Wiccan, Agamotto, Alioth. [Untapped decklist link here]
This deck is expensive, featuring many Series 5 cards. While Quicksilver is the only non-Series 5 card, many alternatives exist for similar cost cards. Bolts of Balthakk provides late-game energy even if you miss Wiccan. The Arcana synergize well: Temporal Manipulation helps you get Agamotto early, Wombs of Watoomb disrupts opponents, and Images of Ikonn can create powerful board states with Cassandra Nova or Galactus. This deck benefits from Eson's addition as well.
Push Scream:
Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Kraven, Sam Wilson, Captain America, Spider-Man, Rocket & Groot, Miles Morales, Spider-Man, Stegron, Cannonball, Agamotto. [Untapped decklist link here]
Another high-cost deck with several Series 5 cards (Hydra Bob, Scream, Iron Patriot, Sam Wilson, Rocket & Groot, Cannonball). Replacements include Nightcrawler for Hydra Bob and Jeff for Iron Patriot. Wombs of Watoomb is the primary synergy, but Temporal Manipulation makes Agamotto a powerful turn 6 play, and Images of Ikonn can create multiple Screams or Spider-Mans. Agamotto adds unpredictability and counters decks using Luke Cage and Shadow King.
Agamotto, if un-nerfed, rivals Thanos and Arishem in power. He'll be a meta-shifting card, creating potent synergies and frustrating opponents. Given his potential to define a new archetype, the $9.99 USD price tag is justified for serious players.
