Koei Tecmo's latest Three Kingdoms title, Three Kingdoms Heroes, is a mobile chess and shogi-inspired battler arriving January 25th. This entry offers a fresh approach for both series veterans and newcomers. The game features the familiar art style and epic storytelling of the franchise, but with a twist: a turn-based board game combat system utilizing the unique abilities and strategies of famous Three Kingdoms figures.
However, the real standout feature is the GARYU AI. Developed by HEROZ, the creators of the world-champion shogi AI dlshogi, GARYU promises an unprecedented level of adaptive and challenging gameplay. Its pedigree, having dominated the World Shogi Championships for two years, suggests a truly formidable opponent. While AI claims should always be approached with a degree of skepticism (recall Deep Blue's infamous chess matches), the potential for a lifelike, strategically astute adversary in a game centered on historical military maneuvering is undeniably enticing.

The GARYU AI is the game's most compelling aspect. Its proven track record in shogi suggests that Three Kingdoms Heroes will offer a uniquely challenging and rewarding experience.
