"Anointing Guide for Path of Exile 2 Released"

by Sebastian Mar 29,2025

In the action-packed world of *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's abilities is key to conquering the game's challenges. One of the more intricate methods to boost your power is through anointing, a feature that becomes available as you progress. Here's a detailed guide on how to anoint in *Path of Exile 2*.

How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2

Unlocking the ability to anoint your amulets and Waystones requires obtaining Distilled Emotions, a resource similar to Blight Oils from the original game. These are essential for anointing and come in ten varieties: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering. You'll need to delve into Delirium Maps to acquire them, where completing a map rewards you with a random selection of these emotions. For those seeking alternatives, Distilled Emotions can also be obtained through currency exchange and the trade market.

To upgrade Distilled Emotions, utilize the Reforging Bench. By combining three of the same type, you can craft a more potent version of that emotion, giving you greater control over your anointing choices. For players looking for a challenge, Simulacrum waves offer a chance to drop Distilled Emotions, though this method is less efficient and more demanding than farming Delirium Maps.

How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2

Currently, in the Early Access phase, anointing can be applied to amulets and Waystones. To anoint an amulet, select a Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. Here, place your amulet in the central slot and three Distilled Emotions in the slots below it. The specific emotions needed for each anointing ability are listed in the Passive Skill Tree. Simply hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt on a keyboard or R3 on a controller to view the requirements.

The choice of skills to anoint will depend on your build, and remember, this effect is not permanent. You can re-anoint an amulet by repeating the process, allowing you to adapt your skills as your build evolves. The newly anointed skill will replace the previous one, offering flexibility to your gameplay strategy.

For Waystones, the anointing process is similar, enhancing their difficulty but also improving the loot they provide. However, both amulets and Waystones cannot be anointed if they are corrupted.

With this knowledge, you're now equipped to enhance your amulets and challenge yourself with anointed Waystones, pushing your limits in *Path of Exile 2*.

*Path of Exile 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
