Backbone Reveals Exclusive Xbox Mobile Controller

by Aaron Jan 05,2026

  • Backbone has teamed up with Xbox to launch a new mobile-centric controller
  • The Backbone One: Xbox Edition will be priced at $109.99
  • It showcases Xbox branding and a sleek translucent green finish

Xbox has become one of the biggest advocates for mobile gaming in recent years. The company, along with its parent Microsoft, aims to position Xbox as an identity rather than a single platform. It’s no surprise, then, that they’ve joined forces with gaming accessory maker Backbone on a new controller designed for mobile play.

The Backbone One: Xbox Edition is set to retail for $109.99 and will be sold directly through the manufacturer and via Best Buy Drops. At first glance, the Xbox influence is clear—the controller features the familiar XYBA buttons, Xbox branding, and other details, all wrapped in a stylish semi-translucent green shell.

Currently, the Backbone is confirmed to work only with USB-C devices, meaning Android phones and possibly future iOS devices if EU regulations requiring USB-C come into effect.

ytIs the price too high?

There's no denying the Backbone Xbox Edition looks sharp—and I’ve always had a soft spot for transparent casings, even though I moved from Xbox to PlayStation and eventually PC. I can see this appealing especially to frequent users of Game Pass and similar services.

However, the $100-plus price tag could be a dealbreaker for some. While a full Xbox console costs significantly more—usually over $400—the asking price for what is essentially a branded accessory may still give potential buyers pause.

Even so, it's hard to ignore the strides Xbox has made in mobile gaming. Need proof? Take a look at our list of the top 10 Xbox Game Pass titles available on Android!
