How to Get I Caught a Shooting Star Trophy/Achievement in Monster Hunter Wilds

by Blake Mar 21,2025

While many *Monster Hunter Wilds* achievements focus on epic hunts, one celebrates the smallest creatures. This guide details how to obtain the elusive "I Caught a Shooting Star" trophy/achievement.

This achievement, deceptively simple, often goes unnoticed. Unlocking it requires capturing the Sandstar, a unique endemic lifeform found only in the Windward Plains. This tiny desert mouse-like creature, with its shimmering fur, is only visible at night in a specific area.

Since the Windward Plains are usually explored during the day, you'll need to manipulate the time of day. Two methods exist:

  • Fast Travel: Once you've unlocked fast travel points in the Windward Plains, repeatedly travel between them to advance time until nightfall.
  • Resting: After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, use Guild Points to rest at a camp, selecting "Nighttime" for the time of day.

The Sandstar is small and fast, even for your Seikret. Consider gathering Screamer Pods beforehand. These can be obtained from Baunos, scavengers found in groups around Areas 11 and 13 of the Windward Plains. While not essential, Screamer Pods significantly ease capture.

At nightfall, search the midpoint between Areas 11 and 13. Upon spotting the Sandstar, chase it, using a Screamer Pod to stun it if you have them. Quickly switch to your Capture Net (used for fishing) and capture it. The "I Caught a Shooting Star!" trophy/achievement, along with the "Ribbon Dream: Amber" nameplate, will then be yours.

This concludes the guide on obtaining the "I Caught a Shooting Star" trophy/achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. Be sure to check out our other guides, including our cutscene skipping guide.
