Caverna: The Cave Farmers, the acclaimed board game, is now available in digital form. This digital adaptation of Caverna has just launched on Android, iOS, and Steam. Originally published in 2013, it was designed by Uwe Rosenberg, the creator of Agricola.
On mobile devices, the game is published by Digidiced and is priced at $11.99. Digidiced is a German studio specializing in translating board games into digital formats. Currently, they are offering significant discounts on several of their other titles, including Terra Mystica, Stockpile, Gaia Project, Chai, and Indian Summer.
In Caverna, you manage a family of dwarves, strategizing the most efficient ways to develop their subterranean home. You start with a simple cave and can expand in numerous directions.
You might clear forests to plant crops, fence pastures for livestock, or dig deeper into the mountain to mine ore and gems. You can even forge weapons to equip your dwarves for expeditions.
Every action is crucial, as the game concludes after a fixed number of rounds. Your final score reflects how successfully you've expanded, developed, and managed your resources. Get a glimpse of the gameplay in the video below.
The digital version of Caverna excels at managing the game's inherent complexity. You can play solo against AI opponents with distinct personalities or compete with up to six other players.
It supports both online and local multiplayer, including asynchronous play with push notifications. For solo players, there are weekly challenges with global leaderboards.
A replay feature allows you to analyze past games. Visually, you can choose the classic board game aesthetic or opt for a 3D view for a more immersive experience. Find Caverna on the Google Play Store.
