Unveiling the Mystery: April 2025 Release

Set in a Belle Epoque France-inspired fantasy world, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 will launch on April 24, 2025. This announcement, made during the Xbox Developer Direct, confirmed the game's arrival on Xbox Game Pass on day one.

Pre-orders are open! Secure your copy on the Xbox Store ($44.99 standard, $59.99 Deluxe) or take advantage of a 10% discount on Steam and PS5 ($44.99/$53.99 respectively). Note that the PS5 discount requires a PlayStation Plus subscription and ends at 3:00 PM local time on release day. Steam's discount concludes May 2, 2025. New Faces Join the Expedition: Monoco and Esquie

The full cast has been revealed, expanding to seven playable characters and one dedicated to exploration. Joining the expedition are Monoco and Esquie:

• Monoco: A friendly yet bloodthirsty Gestral, a being who views combat as meditation. Monoco possesses the unique ability to transform into defeated enemies, leveraging their powers in battle. Interestingly, Gestrals are immune to the Paintress's influence.

• Esquie: A legendary figure, considered the oldest and strongest being in the world. Esquie's role focuses on exploration, granting access to various locations on the open-world map. Collecting his special stones unlocks new abilities and areas.

The remaining playable characters – Gustave, Lune, Maelle, Sciel, Renoir, and Verso – were previously introduced in a YouTube video on October 16, 2024.

Sandfall Interactive aims for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 to be more than just visually appealing. They've reinvented classic turn-based combat with a reactive system, adding a real-time element. Players can parry and dodge attacks, executing more powerful moves with precise button presses. Difficulty settings adjust the timing windows for these actions.

Deep character customization is a core feature. Each character boasts unique mechanics and skill trees (e.g., Lune's "Stain" resource). "Pictos," equipment modifiers, evolve into permanent "Luminas" after four battles, offering further customization options. This allows for hundreds of build variations, catering to diverse playstyles.
