The DC Universe is undergoing a significant transformation. Past financial struggles, inconsistent storytelling, and a lack of cohesive planning have led to a major leadership change. James Gunn, known for his ability to revitalize lesser-known comic book characters, is at the helm, and his projects are already showing promising results, starting with the successful *Creature Commandos* and its upcoming sequel. Kicking off the new DC Universe is *Superman: Legacy*, directed by James Gunn. This film features a younger Superman navigating a world already populated with superheroes. David Corenswet plays Kal-El, alongside Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. Release Date: June 26, 2026
Based on Tom King's comic, *Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow* will offer a unique take on the character. Milly Alcock stars as Supergirl, a survivor who spent fourteen years on a fragment of Krypton before arriving on Earth. Matthias Schoenaerts plays Krem, a significant antagonist from the comics. This adaptation promises a darker, more mature story.

Release Date: September 11, 2026
Following the success of HBO's *The Penguin*, a *Clayface* film is in development, directed by Mike Flanagan. This adaptation of the classic Batman villain will explore the character's long and complex history, drawing inspiration from decades of comic book appearances.

Release Date: October 1, 2027
Matt Reeves is currently working on the script for *The Batman Part II*. The film's release has been pushed back to October 1, 2027, allowing for a more thorough development process.

This film will feature a different Batman than the one seen in Reeves' films, focusing on Batman and his son, Damian Wayne (Robin). Andy Muschietti is directing, and the film is inspired by Grant Morrison's comic book run.

James Mangold will direct this adaptation of *Swamp Thing*. Mangold aims for a more intimate, Gothic horror-focused story, rather than a large-scale crossover event.

While a release date is yet to be announced, audiences will get a first look at The Authority through the character of The Engineer in *Superman: Legacy*. This team of morally gray superheroes will be a significant part of the new DCU.

Following his appearance in *Creature Commandos*, Sgt. Rock is set for a larger role. Luca Guadagnino is reportedly attached to direct, with Daniel Craig potentially starring. This adaptation promises a fresh take on the World War II veteran.
