Destiny 2, the beloved free-to-play multiplayer shooter, is set to deliver an array of fresh content throughout the Year of Prophecy. During the Edge of Fate reveal livestream on May 7, Bungie shared a comprehensive roadmap detailing the year's upcoming events.
This year, Destiny 2 will introduce a new format for its annual updates. As stated by the developers, "Starting with the Year of Prophecy, each year will now feature four major content beats: two paid expansions and two major updates available to all players."
These updates promise a wealth of new experiences, including events, Exotic Missions, new gear, and rewards. Importantly, the new structure ensures that all players can access major updates without needing to purchase seasonal activities.
The Year of Prophecy kicks off with the first expansion, The Edge of Fate, launching on July 15. Players will venture to a new destination, Kepler, and engage with novel abilities alongside new allies.
This update introduces the Portal, "a new activity selection screen that offers instant access to a range of activities tailored to different playstyles, making it easier than ever for players to find their next adventure."
The Edge of Fate will also bring significant changes to the game's armor and tiering systems, including new set bonuses and a character stats rework. More details on these enhancements will be shared in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for updates.
Later this year, Destiny 2 will introduce its second expansion, Renegades, on December 2, featuring a groundbreaking collaboration with the iconic Star Wars franchise.
This expansion melds Destiny's distinctive storytelling and gameplay with Star Wars' rich elements and themes, crafting a sci-fi narrative that resonates with fans of both universes. The collaboration will be a pivotal part of the Fate Saga, introducing new characters, mechanics, and more.
