In *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*, the quest to uncover the secrets of the Butterfly Collector is as intriguing as it is challenging. This faction, hidden within the bustling city of Osaka, is not just another group to be dealt with; it's a sinister network involved in the kidnapping of children from affluent families. Your journey begins in the heart of Osaka, where you'll encounter a woman discussing a seemingly innocent game of hunting origami butterflies. These large paper butterflies, pinned to tree trunks and surrounded by real butterflies, are your first clue to a much darker plot.
As you collect these butterflies, you'll uncover notes that reveal the true nature of the Butterfly Collector—a secret society of women aiming to gain power and influence through their heinous acts. Your mission is clear: stop them and rescue the kidnapped children. Here's how to find and confront each member of this nefarious group.

Each member of the Butterfly Collector faction can be located using geographical clues scattered throughout Osaka. Here's a detailed guide to help you track them down:

Shucho's carelessness leads you to her in the Fishermen’s District at the southeastern tip of Osaka. Dressed in green, she's frantically searching for a kidnapped child at an intersection. Use Naoe's blade or Yasuke's brute force to take her down, then rescue the child hiding behind nearby horses.

Head northwest from Shucho's location, crossing the bridge to reach the Kojo ruins. Mucho, disguised as a family jochu, is struggling with her latest victim on the road south of the ruins. Use the child's resistance to your advantage, then defeat Mucho and reunite the child with her mother.

Richo, a young woman who pretends to be of higher standing, can be found in the bamboo grove at Noda Village, just north of Osaka. She's dressed in pink and checking on a ransom payment. Approach her stealthily or engage in combat to save her latest victim.

Kacho, the leader of the Butterfly Collector, is located just north of Nishinomaru Garden, west of Osaka Castle. This area is restricted, so approach with caution. When you see a flurry of butterflies, you're close. Engage her in conversation, then prepare for a deadly confrontation. Kacho's demise will leave one final member to deal with.
Return to the Gamemaker, the woman who initiated the butterfly collecting quest. As a former victim, she created the game to expose the Butterfly Collector's activities. You now face a choice: punish her for her involvement or allow her to start anew. Opting for the latter will let her adopt a new identity and life.
Once you've made your decision, the Butterfly Collector faction will be eradicated, earning you 5,500 XP toward your next level.
That's how you can effectively track down and dismantle the Butterfly Collector in *Assassin’s Creed Shadows*. For more tips and guides, be sure to check out The Escapist.
