Elden Ring Nightreign's initial network test, currently underway, is experiencing substantial server difficulties, hindering many players' participation.
IGN's testers reported severe server problems, preventing access for the test's first hour. FromSoftware acknowledged the server congestion, apologizing for the matchmaking issues and urging players to retry later.
The limited availability of the network test—five three-hour windows between February 14th and 17th on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S—exacerbates the problem. The schedule is as follows:
Elden Ring Nightreign Network Test Schedule:
Bandai Namco describes the test as a "preliminary verification" to assess online functionality and performance. While preferable to launch-day server issues, the current problems have understandably frustrated players who allocated time for the test. Improved performance in subsequent sessions is hoped for.
Elden Ring Nightreign, a standalone cooperative spin-off, features a parallel world to 2022's Elden Ring. The test allows three-player teams to battle new enemies, explore a dynamic map, conquer challenging bosses, and ultimately confront the Nightlord. A three-day-and-night cycle adds another layer of challenge.
IGN's hands-on preview praised Elden Ring Nightreign's fast-paced, action-oriented gameplay, a departure from Elden Ring's more deliberate approach. Further details can be found in IGN's interview with director Junya Ishizaki.
Elden Ring Nightreign releases May 30th, 2025, priced at $40 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Steam).
