Engineers to Care for Grogu in New Mandalorian-Themed Millennium Falcon Update - Star Wars Celebration

by Emery May 14,2025

Star Wars Celebration unveiled thrilling new details for the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu-themed update for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run, set to coincide with the release of the new movie. This update promises an immersive experience, featuring Din Djarin and Grogu in a fresh narrative. Engineers will have the unique opportunity to take care of Grogu, adding a new layer of interaction to the adventure. Additionally, guests will be able to explore the iconic planet of Coruscant, alongside other familiar locations such as Tatooine, Bespin, and Endor, in a choose-your-own-adventure-style storyline.

Scheduled for release on May 22, 2026, this update will diverge from the plot of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie but will still center around the beloved duo. The storyline kicks off when Hondo Ohnaka learns of a clandestine deal on Tatooine between former Imperial officers and pirates, sparking a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Players will join forces with Mando and Grogu to pursue the culprits and claim a bounty in an exhilarating, galaxy-spanning mission.

While full details are yet to be revealed, it's clear that Engineers will play a more significant role, tasked with looking after Grogu during the adventure. This interactive element is set to enhance the experience significantly.

In an exclusive interview, Walt Disney Imagineering's Asa Kalama provided further insights into what fans can expect. "Throughout the mission, we're going to be giving the engineers the opportunity to actually get to communicate with Grogu," Kalama explained. "It's going to be a lot of fun. There might be moments when Mando has to leave the Razor Crest, leaving Grogu to his own devices, which could lead to some playful chaos on the control panel. We're excited about these fun, spontaneous interactions where players are directly communicating with Grogu."

Regarding the choose-your-own-adventure aspect, Kalama highlighted a pivotal moment in the game where players must make swift decisions about which bounty to pursue, influencing the destinations they visit throughout the mission.
