Path of Exile 2 Endgame: A Comprehensive Guide to Ritual Events

Path of Exile 2 introduces four major endgame events: Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous PoE leagues. We'll cover initiation, mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, and the unique reward system.

Identifying Ritual Encounters

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a red pentagram icon featuring a demonic face. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Ritual Mechanics

Upon entering a map with a Ritual, several Altars will appear. Each map features a shared random modifier affecting enemies and mechanics. Modifiers might include massive rat swarms, life-draining blood pools, or other challenges.

Interact with an Altar to initiate a wave of enemies. Remain within the designated circle; venturing into the shadows ends the event without reward. Completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

The King in the Mists: Pinnacle Boss

'An Audience With The King,' a unique currency item, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness and the King in the Mists Pinnacle Boss fight. Slot this currency into your Realmgate on the Atlas.

The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 counterpart. Practice is available in Freythorn (Act 1, Cruel difficulty). Defeating him yields 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen (bottom right), enhances Ritual events. Nodes modify Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates. Defeating the King in the Mists awards 2 skill points, necessitating increased boss difficulty for each new Notable node.

Notable Nodes and Prioritization:

Prioritize 'From The Mists,' 'Spreading Darkness,' and 'Ominous Portents' first, then 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches.'

Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a temporary currency for purchasing randomized Favours. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-tier currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is a Favour reward.

Omen Currencies

Omens are powerful items enhancing other currency effects. Examples include Omens of Annulment (specific modifier removal) and Alchemy (specific modifier addition). Omens are highly valuable, either for use or trading.

Additional Rewards

Ritual enemies drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
