Avex Pictures has just unveiled a new mobile game adaptation of the beloved Made in Abyss franchise. Known for its immersive storytelling and intricate world-building, the series is making its debut in the mobile gaming space for the first time. Titled Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey, the game is set to captivate fans with its signature blend of mystery and adventure.
The announcement coincided with the launch of the game’s official X account (formerly Twitter), which will serve as a hub for updates leading up to its release. While details remain scarce, the game is expected to be a casual mobile title designed for both Android and iOS devices. For now, it’s exclusively slated for the Japanese market, with no confirmed plans for a global rollout.
Made in Abyss originally debuted in 2012 as a manga penned by Akihito Tsukushi and published on Web Comic Gamma. The story follows Riko, an orphan living near the enigmatic Abyss—a vast, bottomless chasm teeming with ancient relics, bizarre creatures, and unsolved mysteries. As Riko sets out to uncover the secrets of the Abyss, she teams up with Reg, a mysterious half-robot boy with no recollection of his past.
The series has since gained international acclaim thanks to its anime adaptation, which premiered in 2017, and the 2020 film Dawn of the Deep Soul. In 2022, Chime Corporation released a critically acclaimed RPG for consoles and PC titled Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness.
Stay tuned for more updates as Avex Pictures continues to share details about Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey.
