To start your fishing journey, chat with Kanya at the Forest Base Camp in the Scarlet Forest (accessible in Chapter 1). She's by the pond, and once you speak to her, you'll receive a fishing rod, the Common Wood Minnow lure, and the "Fishing: Life, in Microcosm" sidequest. This quest is the first of many, unlocking new bait and leading you to the rarest fish.
