FromSoftware Completes Elden Ring Nightreign Server Upgrade, Boosts Matchmaking

FromSoftware, the developer behind Elden Ring Nightreign, has finished a recent server upgrade aimed at enhancing matchmaking performance.

Over the game’s debut weekend, FromSoftware addressed matchmaking challenges in Elden Ring Nightreign, advising players to restart the matchmaking process and, for PlayStation 4 and 5 users, to verify their NAT type.

Following the June 6 server maintenance to optimize expedition matchmaking with an active Remembrance, online features have been fully restored, raising hopes for a smoother player experience.

“Thank you for your patience, Nightfarers,” FromSoftware stated. “Limveld is ready.”

Despite early hiccups, Elden Ring Nightreign sold 3.5 million copies in its first five days. While Elden Ring itself moved 30 million units since its 2022 launch, Nightreign is unlikely to reach those heights. For comparison, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion sold 5 million copies in three days in 2024.

Nightreign’s Steam user review rating has climbed from 'mixed' to 'mostly positive.' Initial criticism targeted the tough solo gameplay, absent duos co-op, lack of voice chat, and dated mechanics.

On Monday, FromSoftware rolled out a patch to ease solo play and confirmed that a Duos mode is in development.

Looking ahead, FromSoftware announced that alongside a DLC release later this year, new features will be gradually introduced, including upgraded battles against existing Nightlords starting this month.

Earlier this week, the director of Elden Ring Nightreign shared that he defeated every boss solo without Relics, emphasizing that it’s “entirely achievable” for players to experience all content.
