Games Workshop Boosts Staff with $27M Bonus Amid Success

by Matthew Jun 03,2025

The success story of Warhammer 40,000 creator Games Workshop shows no signs of slowing down. Recently, the UK-based company announced a generous £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus for its employees, marking a significant increase from the £18 million distributed last year. With approximately 1,500 staff members, this equates to a bonus of around £13,333 ($18,000) per employee.

During the fiscal year ending June 1, 2025, Games Workshop reported impressive financial figures. Core revenue surged to £560 million, compared to £494.7 million in the previous year. Licensing revenue also saw a substantial rise, climbing to £50 million from £31 million. Core profit reached £210 million, up from £174.8 million, while licensing profit increased to £45 million from £27 million. This resulted in a pre-tax profit of £255 million, surpassing the previous year’s £203 million.

These remarkable achievements prompted Games Workshop to reward its workforce generously, acknowledging their pivotal role in driving these outcomes. The company's primary focus remains the sale of miniatures used in tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000. However, it has evolved into a robust intellectual property (IP) business, generating substantial revenue from popular video games such as Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and animated series like Amazon’s Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. Additionally, Games Workshop has partnered with Amazon for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will encompass film and television projects. Development of Space Marine 3 is also underway.

Looking ahead, Games Workshop noted that licensing revenue has reached record levels, though it anticipates a decline in subsequent years. Nevertheless, the company remains committed to expanding its IP portfolio. As Warhammer 40,000 continues to grow, the momentum seems unstoppable.

Recently, Games Workshop hosted its annual Warhammer Skulls event, unveiling exciting updates. Key highlights included a Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of Siege mode for Space Marine 2.
