Gears: Reloaded adds maps, modes for weekend beta

by Jonathan Sep 23,2025

Gears of War: Reloaded's upcoming beta weekend is expanding both in duration and content following player feedback, developer The Coalition announced.

"We heard you," the studio stated on social media. "More maps. More modes. More time."

The multiplayer beta has been extended - now running from Friday June 20 at 12pm PDT through Sunday June 22 at 9pm PDT. Execution mode joins the rotation alongside King of the Hill on Gridlock, with additional maps Raven Down (featuring Courtyard and War Machine variants) and Canals included. Players can also enjoy Team Deathmatch on these maps via social matchmaking, with Gold Rush rounding out the playlist.

While these additions might not fully address server stability concerns reported by some players, beta testing exists precisely to identify such technical issues before the game's official launch in several weeks.

Microsoft recently revealed Gears of War: Reloaded, a comprehensive remaster of the 2006 original, launching August 26 across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation platforms. This enhanced edition boasts upgraded visuals and audio, cross-platform play and progression, plus all Ultimate Edition DLC content.

As a special bonus for long-time fans, digital purchasers of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition prior to the announcement will receive Gears of War: Reloaded as a free upgrade. Eligible players can expect redemption codes via Xbox DMs ahead of launch.

"As we approach Gears of War's 20th anniversary in 2026, we're reflecting on the franchise's legacy - its powerful storytelling, lasting friendships, and unforgettable shared experiences. With Gears of War: Reloaded, we're making these moments accessible to more players than ever," remarked Mike Crump, studio head at The Coalition, during the announcement.
