Gran Saga Shuts Down Next Month

by Sebastian Mar 26,2025

NPIXEL has announced the official closure of Gran Saga, ending its brief international journey. The service will terminate on April 30th, 2025, and in-app purchases (IAPs) along with downloads have already been disabled.

Gran Saga, which saw a successful launch in Japan in 2021, entered the global market in November 2024. Unfortunately, it struggled to maintain its momentum outside Japan, surviving only six months before the decision to shut down was made.

The primary reason for this closure appears to be financial instability and challenges in sustaining a viable service. Despite an impressive start, Gran Saga found it difficult to establish itself in the highly competitive global gaming market. The genre is dominated by well-established games with loyal player bases, making it tough for new entries to gain traction unless they offer something revolutionary.

ytThis closure adds to the trend of gacha RPGs facing shutdowns. Recently, I reported on the closure of My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero, and it's part of a larger pattern. The market is oversaturated, and players tend to stick with familiar titles, which makes it challenging for new or niche games to survive in the long run.

For players who have made recent purchases and are seeking refunds, you have until May 30th to submit a request. However, refunds may not be possible if you've already used your purchases or due to other store policies.

If you enjoyed your time in Ethprozen, this farewell is undoubtedly difficult, but it's becoming increasingly common in the mobile gaming world.
