Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), projects a Fall 2025 release. This article delves into Take-Two's recent financial report, highlighting their confidence in this timeframe and the overall success of their diverse game portfolio.

Take-Two Interactive's Q3 earnings call (February 7, 2025) reaffirmed their commitment to a Fall 2025 release for GTA 6. While CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed confidence, he acknowledged the inherent risks associated with development timelines, stating that unforeseen delays are always a possibility. Despite this caveat, he expressed strong optimism about the projected launch window. Zelnick remained tight-lipped on specific development details, emphasizing Rockstar's dedication to quality and the intense competitive landscape.

Zelnick highlighted 2025 as a pivotal year for Take-Two, citing several key releases. These include the Early Access launch of Sid Meier's Civilization VII (with full release on February 11th), Mafia: The Old Country (Summer release), Grand Theft Auto VI (Fall release), and Borderlands 4 (before year-end). The company projects these titles to significantly impact both their business and the gaming industry as a whole. Take-Two anticipates continued growth, projecting record-breaking net bookings in fiscal years 2026 and 2027.

The enduring popularity of the GTA franchise is undeniable, with GTA 5 surpassing 210 million units sold globally. GTA Online continues to thrive, particularly boosted by the "Agents of Sabotage" holiday update and the ongoing success of the GTA+ membership program, which saw a 10% year-over-year increase in subscribers.
Other Take-Two titles also enjoyed significant success in Q3. NBA 2K25 sold over 7 million units, accompanied by a substantial increase in player engagement metrics. Red Dead Redemption 2, boasting over 70 million units sold, continues to attract new players and maintains a strong online presence, currently experiencing record-high concurrent players on Steam (99,993 according to SteamDB).
Speculation surrounding Steven Ogg (Trevor's actor in GTA 5) and his supposed aversion to the character has been addressed. In an interview on the Inside You podcast, Ogg clarified that he doesn't dislike Trevor; he simply prefers not to be called by the character's name. He emphasized his positive experience working on GTA 5 and his continued friendship with the other actors. While he previously mused about Trevor's potential demise in GTA 6, he confirmed he hasn't been involved in any recording sessions for the upcoming game.
While a specific release date for GTA 6 remains unannounced, a Fall 2025 launch remains the current expectation. Stay tuned for further updates.
