GTA Online Update Restricts Access to Crucial Features

Grand Theft Auto Online's latest update sparks controversy by restricting remote business income collection to GTA+ subscribers. The Bottom Dollar Bounties update, released June 25th, introduced a bounty hunting business and other additions. Since 2013, GTA Online has consistently expanded with purchasable businesses generating passive income. Previously, players manually collected this income from each business, a tedious process.

The Bottom Dollar Bounties update simplifies this, but only for GTA+ subscribers. The Vinewood Club app now allows GTA+ members to remotely collect earnings from all their businesses. Non-subscribers, however, must still visit each location individually.

This move contradicts Rockstar's previous assurances that gameplay features wouldn't be exclusive to GTA+ subscribers. Negative player sentiment, amplified by a recent price increase, has intensified with this latest development. Concerns are rising that Rockstar may leverage this practice in future updates to bolster GTA+'s appeal.

The implications extend beyond GTA 5. The possibility of GTA+ carrying over to Grand Theft Auto 6's online mode, potentially with an expanded role, is a significant concern. The current negative perception of GTA+ suggests a challenging future for the subscription service, particularly if this practice continues. The reception to this model in GTA 6 remains to be seen.
