HBO's award-winning series The Last of Us is reportedly planning a four-season run according to network executive Francesca Orsi. While stressing these plans aren't finalized, Orsi told Deadline: "This season followed by two more would complete the story."
The highly anticipated second season returns in April 2025 with deeper exploration of the post-apocalyptic factions. "We're introducing survivalist groups with distinct visual identities in their costumes and makeup," Orsi revealed. "Their presentation makes them stand out from ordinary survivors."
New viewers can still catch up before Season 2 premieres. Unlike Season 1 which adapted the entire first game, Season 2 will cover just part of The Last of Us Part II with a planned mid-season break after episode 7.
Season 2 introduces several new actors including:
Catherine O'Hara's mysterious role remains undisclosed.
IGN praised Season 1 as "a masterpiece adaptation that delights both newcomers and fans," awarding it 9/10 in their review. The series successfully translated Joel and Ellie's emotional journey from game to screen.
