League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

League of Legends is set to reinstate Hextech Chests following a wave of fan feedback. Dive into the details of the upcoming update and what's on the horizon for LoL.

League of Legends Reverses Unpopular Changes

Hextech Chests Make a Comeback

Riot Games has announced the return of Hextech Chests in League of Legends (LoL) after receiving significant feedback from the community. On February 27, 2025, Riot detailed the upcoming changes in a developer update on their website and shared a corresponding video on their YouTube channel.

Acknowledging that recent changes didn't resonate with the player base, Riot stated, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."

One change that fans were particularly vocal about was the removal of Hextech Chests. Riot recognized the importance of these chests, noting, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."

Starting with patch 25.05, Hextech Chests will return, allowing players to earn up to 10 chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, while the remaining two can be obtained via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed and More Changes Based on Fan Feedback

Riot Games also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, stating the need for "more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay affects the entire Exalted skin line, meaning fans won't see a new skin in every Act this year as initially planned.

In response to additional fan feedback, LoL will replace one of the non-Prestige skins with 25 Mythic Essence. This decision comes after feedback indicating a lack of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and an overload of champions for each seasonal theme.

Addressing concerns about accessibility, LoL will reduce the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting with patch 25.05. This change follows recent discussions about blue essence and champion shards.

Another reversal concerns Clash. Previously, Riot had planned to run Clash less frequently, but they have now reinstated the monthly schedule. The March Clash event will feature ARURF, followed by a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.

Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Return

Responding to fan demand, Riot Games is bringing back popular features like Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium. Your Shop is scheduled to return in patch 25.06, with the Emporium following in patch 25.07.

Riot emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."

With these responses, Riot Games demonstrates a clear dedication to listening to their community and adapting the game to meet player expectations. League of Legends remains free-to-play on PC. For the latest updates and information, visit our League of Legends page.
