Marvel Rivals is gearing up for an exciting Spring Festival event, kicking off this Thursday. Players can look forward to snagging a free Star-Lord costume and diving into a unique new game mode called Clash of Dancing Lions. In this mode, teams of three will battle it out to score a ball into the opponents' goal, reminiscent of both Rocket League and Overwatch's Lucioball. While it's easy to draw parallels with Rocket League due to the ball-handling aspect, the mode more closely mirrors Lucioball, the inaugural special game mode in Overwatch, which itself drew inspiration from Rocket League.
This comparison is particularly noteworthy as Marvel Rivals is currently seen as surpassing Overwatch. To carve out its own identity and distance itself from the Blizzard title, Marvel Rivals needs to introduce original content. However, its first major event introduces a mode strikingly similar to Overwatch's initial event. The key difference lies in the thematic execution: while Overwatch's event was themed around the Olympic Games, Marvel Rivals embraces strong Chinese vibes for its Spring Festival celebration.
The good news is that fans won't have to wait long to experience this event, as the Spring Festival is set to begin very soon.
