Marvel Snap has returned and developers wish to switch publishers

The temporary US shutdown of TikTok on January 19th unexpectedly impacted Marvel Snap, the popular card game published by Nuverse (a ByteDance subsidiary). This disruption, lasting approximately 24 hours, resulted in the game becoming temporarily inaccessible. While Marvel Snap is now back online, full functionality, including in-app purchases, remains under restoration.

This incident, stemming from the ongoing political scrutiny surrounding TikTok's US operations, has prompted Second Dinner Studios to explore alternative publishing options and internal service management to mitigate future risks. TikTok's 90-day extension to sell a 50% stake to a US entity leaves Marvel Snap vulnerable to further disruptions should the deal fail.

Second Dinner Studios has promised further updates. While PC users via Steam experienced less interruption, many players reported authorization problems. The sudden outage, without prior warning, caused significant frustration, particularly for those who made recent in-game purchases.

An official statement on Platform X assures players: “Marvel Snap is here to stay. We're working hard to restore the game as quickly as possible, and we'll keep players informed of our progress.” The developers expressed surprise at the event and are actively addressing the situation.
