"Metaphor: ReFantazio Could Become a Series, Says Game Director"

In a recent interview, Hashino expressed his interest in developing a game set during the Sengoku period, a setting he believes could serve as an excellent backdrop for a new Japanese role-playing game. He suggested that this game could draw inspiration from the Basara series, indicating a potential new direction for the studio's creative endeavors.

Regarding Metaphor: ReFantazio, Hashino clarified that there are currently no solid plans to turn it into a series. His primary focus is on seeing the current project through to completion. Initially, Metaphor: ReFantazio was envisioned as the third major Japanese role-playing game series by the studio, following in the footsteps of Persona and Shin Megami Tensei. Hashino's goal is for this game to become the company's flagship project.

Despite earlier statements ruling out a sequel, the team is already moving forward with their next project, which is not expected to be Metaphor: ReFantazio 2. However, discussions about an anime adaptation of Metaphor: ReFantazio are underway. This game has marked Atlus' most successful platform launch to date, achieving a peak concurrent user count of 85,961. For comparison, Persona 5 Royal reached 35,474 players, and Persona 3 Reload hit 45,002. Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, showcasing its broad platform compatibility.
