Metro is marking its 15th anniversary with an exciting offer: Metro 2033 Redux is available for free for a limited time. This promotion, announced by 4A Games on Metro's official X (formerly Twitter) account on April 14, allows players to claim the game on Steam and Xbox until April 16 at 3 PM UTC / 5 PM CET / 9 AM PT. This move is designed to introduce new players to the franchise's origins, offering a chance to dive into the gripping world of Metro.

As part of the anniversary celebrations, 4A Games has planned a series of events, deals, and special content throughout the year. These initiatives, shared via a blog post on the 4A Games' official website on March 16, aim to express gratitude to the Metro community for their continued support.

4A Games, founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, and later expanded to Malta, draws inspiration from Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky's science fiction novels, starting with Metro 2033. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the studio remains committed to its storytelling roots, addressing themes related to the war. They emphasized, "These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title, it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it."

The Next Metro

Currently, 4A Games is developing two major projects: the next installment in the Metro series and a brand new intellectual property (IP). While details about the new IP remain under wraps, the studio provided insights into the development of the upcoming Metro game. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has significantly influenced the narrative direction of the next Metro title. The developers noted, "As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale Russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story, those themes already present in Metro becoming ever-more apparent and important."

Despite these challenges, 4A Games remains dedicated to delivering compelling, reality-inspired stories. They assured fans that they will overcome the current difficulties to bring forth a powerful and relevant new chapter in the Metro series.
