Microsoft Making Big Changes to Game Pass Quests and Rewards

by Adam Jan 24,2025

Enhanced Xbox Game Pass Rewards: New Quests and Point System for PC Gamers (18+)

Starting January 7th, Xbox Game Pass is significantly upgrading its rewards program, introducing Quests to PC Game Pass users and refining the point-earning system. This update, however, is exclusively for players aged 18 and older, prioritizing "age-appropriate gaming experiences."

Previously limited to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, the Quests system is expanding to include PC Game Pass members. This provides more opportunities to earn points redeemable for various rewards. Access to Quests and the Rewards Hub will be available through the player profile for all active Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers (18+). A minimum playtime of 15 minutes per game is required to earn points, and only titles within the Game Pass catalog (excluding those using third-party launchers) are eligible.

Key Changes to Game Pass Quests and Rewards:

  • PC Game Pass Quest Access: Available starting January 7th.

  • New Quest Types:

    • Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass title for at least 15 minutes.
    • Weekly Streaks: Play for at least five days a week to earn points. Maintaining a streak across multiple weeks increases the point multiplier (2x for two weeks, 3x for three, and 4x for four or more).
    • Monthly 4-Pack & 8-Pack: Explore the Game Pass library by playing four (or eight) different games for at least 15 minutes each month. The 4-Pack games count towards the 8-Pack.
    • PC Weekly Bonus: Earn 150 points by playing for at least 15 minutes on five or more days of the week.
  • Age Restriction: The Rewards Hub and all new Quest features are unavailable to players under 18. Younger players can only earn rewards through parentally approved purchases from the Microsoft Store.

The revamped system simplifies point accumulation with daily, weekly, and monthly opportunities. The return of weekly streaks allows for significant point multiplication through consistent gameplay. Microsoft emphasizes its commitment to age-appropriate content, hence the age restriction on the new rewards program.
