"MindLight: Android Horror Game With Neurofeedback"

Rescue your grandmother from a haunted mansion filled with shadow creatures - it sounds like a typical horror adventure game. But MindLight goes beyond that. Created by PlayNice, this action-adventure title actually helps children manage stress and anxiety through biofeedback technology.

What exactly is biofeedback? It's a therapeutic technique that connects mind and body to enhance mental and physical wellbeing. Your emotional state directly impacts the gameplay: stay calm to illuminate the dark mansion, while anxiety keeps the environment shadowy and unsettling.

MindLight: A Game with Genuine Benefits

Co-developed by Dr. Isabela Granic, PlayNice's co-founder and lead researcher, MindLight underwent rigorous testing through multiple randomized control trials involving over 1,000 children. The results showed participants' anxiety levels decreased by at least 50% after playing.

The concept is straightforward: as a child exploring your grandmother's shadow-infested mansion, you wear a headset that monitors brainwaves or heart rate in real time. The better you manage your emotions, the more light you generate to navigate the mansion and repel terrifying creatures.

While primarily tested with children aged 8-12, PlayNice reports that even teenagers and parents find the game engaging. Its real-time adaptation to each player's unique stress responses ensures a personalized experience for everyone.

Getting Started with MindLight

To begin your MindLight journey, you'll need two essential components: the Neurosky MindWave 2 EEG headset and a game subscription. Choose between individual child access or a family plan supporting up to five players.

MindLight is available across multiple platforms including the Google Play Store, Amazon store, App Store, and directly through PlayNice's website.
